Consider the Latest Sink and Faucet Trends in Your Kitchen Remodel

If you are considering a kitchen remodel, one of the things you will have to focus on is the sink. Changing up your sink and faucet can be an easy way to add some trendy design into your kitchen, and you will likely be surprised by how much a change like this can impact the overall look of the room. Before choosing a new sink or faucet, take a look at some of the popular trends now on the market.

Apron Sinks

An apron sink is generally used in a kitchen to bring about a traditional or vintage look, but these days, the sink design looks just as good in homes that have a modern or contemporary settings. These sinks are available in many colors and made of different materials, but the most popular is white fireclay. Fireclay is a good option for kitchens because it is a beautiful material and resilient. Additionally, white sinks are a perfect complement to many kitchen countertop colors including black or gray.

Accent Sinks

You also may want to consider using your kitchen sink as an accent piece in your kitchen. Instead of a typical chrome sink, an eye-catching accent sink may make a huge difference in the look of your room. One of the most popular ways to employ an accent sink in the kitchen is to choose a brightly colored sink that complements cabinet or countertop color. Another option is to choose a sink that is a shape that is noticeably different, for instance, a round sink. You may also want to consider a pedestal sink in the kitchen, just keep in mind that these sinks are usually not as large or as deep as a typical kitchen sink, so you may have to change your dishwashing habits.

Pull-Down Kitchen Faucets

When most people think of the pull-down kitchen faucet, they think of commercial kitchen faucets, often found in busy restaurants and used by the dishwashers to rinse the dishes before sanitizing them. However, these faucets are being found more and more in homes and are even replacing the old, dated pull out sprayers. A pull-down kitchen faucet is likely best for those who like to cook and entertain, as it makes it easier to clean large pots and pans.  These faucets have a spout that creates a high arc and a spray head that pulls down. Many also have a feature that allows for auto retraction of the sprayer when you are finished using it. It also creates a sophisticated, modern look.

Touchless Faucets

Another trend when it comes to faucets is a touchless faucet. This is not only becoming popular in the kitchen, but it is also popular in the bathroom. In the kitchen, this is not only more convenient, but it is also more sanitary. Germs are commonly found in the kitchen, and the fewer germs that get out your hands from touching objects in the kitchen, then better. These faucets work by utilizing a sensor when the hands are placed underneath the spout. Though commonly found in public restrooms, many manufacturers have them for the home in a variety of styles and colors.

Faucets With a Satin Nickel Finish

The look of a faucet is also important to most homeowners, and one of the most popular finishes for faucets is satin nickel. In fact, it was the most popular finish according to the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s Design Trends Survey in 2014. Even today, it is extremely popular, and the trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, anytime soon. This finish even looks good when matched with other metals and finishes, too, especially when used with metal lighting fixtures and cabinet pulls.

Nature-Inspired Faucets

People also tend to look to nature when choosing a new faucet, and manufacturers have heeded the call. There are a number of nature-inspired kitchen faucets on the market including those that look like small waterfalls, those that look like branches from trees, or even those in the shape of animals or flowers. When choosing a nature-inspired faucet, however, you must make sure that you are choosing a design that fits with the rest of your decor. For example, a faucet in the shape of a tree branch may look gorgeous in a log home, but it will likely not match with a contemporary or modern design.

These are only a few trendy design ideas that may work for your kitchen remodel. Though these trends look amazing in most kitchens, it is important to keep a few things in mind. For instance, if you are planning on selling your home in the next five years or less, you likely want to choose a kitchen design that is more traditional or classic, as you taste for the exotic, such as a nature-inspired faucet, may not impress all buyers.
