1. Centennial Park


Surrounding the Centennial Lake, Centennial Park is a 325-acre park that loops around the lake. The park is known for its open space and wildlife. You can rent a boat, have a quiet picnic in the park and enjoy the sights and sounds of the beautiful park.

2. Patapsco Valley State Park


It’s safe to say that Columbia is a haven for nature lovers. One prime example of this is the Patapsco Valley, State Park. Located just outside of Columbia, the park is situated along 32 miles of the Patapsco River. The state park covers 14000 acres of land and is the first state park in Maryland. The Patapsco Valley State Park is ideal for family picnics or a day of hiking for all.

3. The African Art Museum of Maryland (AAMM)


Founded in 1980, the AAMM or the African Art Museum of Maryland is an institution in itself. During your visit to Columbia, you can visit the museum and take part in their African Experience Tour, which is a hands-on experience that includes a number of activities that will most certainly enhance your visit.

4. Oakland Manor – Fun things to do


While you’re in Columbia, why not dip your toes in some history as well? The Oakland Manor is the perfect site for history enthusiasts. Located in downtown Columbia, the Oakland Manor was built in 1811 and stands today as an elegant reminder of a time long gone.

8. Toby’s Dinner Theatre


Who wants to enjoy a good meal and some stellar performance? Then head over to TOby’s Dinner Theatre. Toby’s is known for its original musicals as well as acclaimed Broadway performances. It prides itself on providing an intimate theatrical experience with seats no further than 30-feet away from the stage.


9. Lake Kittamaqundi


Lake Kittamaqundi is a man-made reservoir that spans 27 acres. It is right next to the Mall of Columbia and surrounded by a beautiful fun trail for you to hike on. You can also use the picnic pavilion.

10. Clark’s Elioak Farm


If you want to have fun and do something truly unique, head over to Clark’s Elioak Farm. This historic farm covers 540 acres and is located along Maryland Route 108 in Howard County, Maryland.  Elioak farm is a renowned petting zoo and is among the most famous and renowned attractions for families that visit Columbia.
